We will be doing the bat hike again this year. We will meet at Woodard Bay Conservation Area at 8:30 PM on July 21. We delayed the start 1/2 hour. The sun just won’t go down. We will then walk out the trail to the beach. At the beach is an old rail bridge that has one of the biggest bat colonies in North America. They leave at sunset to feed on the mosquitoes at Capitol Lake. You will want to bring a flashlight for the walk back. The parking lot is small, so we may need to carpool from a nearby parking lot. It is also Washington State DNR land, so you will need a Discover Pass to park. Click here for a map.
